Line and shape
Out of School
The 5th image on this page was taken in my front yard right outside of the porch. In the picture, we see the railing of the porch which represents the lines. There are also lines on the side of the house. This picture was taken very close to the railing. The point of view of this was straight on and it was taken vertically. When taking this photo I did not consider the rule of thirds. I think the 5th image is also a dynamic composition.

In photo #2, there is the side of a house that shows pattern of the sides it. This was shot from pretty close up and from a horizontal, straight on point of view. My image did not follow the rule of thirds because the house is not centered. This is an example of pattern because of the siding of the house that is repeating.
Image number 3 may be overexposed because in the top right corner it is too bright and there is not enough contrast. Image number 4 may be underexposed. The middle of the picture is too dark and would be much better if it was brighter. Image number 5 was my best example of a properly exposed image. I think there is a good contrast of black and white and is not too bright or too dark in any areas.

Black and White
I think that image 3 best demonstrates the rule of thirds the best. The pole is centered in the picture and nothing is too much on one side. Image 4 demonstrates distance and point of view. It is shot from below and it is looking up at the power line. There is also a good distance because it is not too close or too far away. Image 4 showcases positive and negative shapes. The outline of the pole creates a triangle shape which is negative shapes and rectangles between the power line which are also negative shapes. I think that image 3 is the best example of a strong composition. The photo is not too dark or too light and it leads the viewers eyes through the image. The trees consist of a good dark background the pole consists of a nice lighter area. Image 3 also best satisfies the assignment. I think so because it shows black and white, but not too much of either. There is a variety of both. The best example of a black and white photo is image 1. Image 1 has a good background of dark trees with light poles that makes the picture properly exposed. There is not too much of dark or too much of light.
