Portraits
The photographer I chose was Philippe Halsman. In image #1, the light is coming from the bottom right hand corner. The light shined at a diagonal angle against his face. This creates a shadow that is on the left side of the image. The model is looking off to the side and is tilting his head downwards. The picture is taken of the model's head and his upper body. The portrait was taken horizontally and the point of view was straight on. I shot this image close to the model. The lighting and position of the model shows us that he is outgoing because of all of the flowers and different colors. He is wearing many flowers on his body and this explains to us that he is outgoing. In image #6, the positioning was different as well as the lighting. The portrait was shot from above and the lighting was from the top left and it shoots down on the model's hand.
Research: Portrait Photographer
Philippe Halsman: In image #2, the light is coming from the left side of the image. This creates a shadow on the right side of the image. The model is looking right into the camera and seems to be sitting in a chair. The background is just a white screen on the left and black background on the right. The point of view was taken form straight on and the distance was very close to the model's face. This lighting and position of the model shows us that he is creepy because it is a dark and black background. He is not smiling and has shadows on his face. Therefore, the image makes the man look creepy.
